Default Sohc Turbo ppl, what Greddy IC you running..

To the ppl w/ Greddy sohc kits, what greddy ic you guys using, Type 31 or 24?
Also the ppl w/ 96-00 civic's are you using the ic for the 92-95 ex/si or 99-00 si.

Reason being I have a 00 ex that I am doing a custom setup with a T3/T4 and maxrev manifold.
I am curious if I can use the Greddy IC (either type 24 or 31) in my setup.
I would think I would use the 99-00 SI due to have same chassis...
Is it even possible to use the Greddy IC and piping w/ a T3/T4.

Also what is the dia of the piping? 2" or 2.25"??

i got the type 31 IC for my setup(2000 Si), I believe it fits for 96-00 models (same front bumber support etc.. I dont know the size off the top of my head though. I'm sure if its the same size as the drag, you can order the piping or just get the IC that comes with the drag kit and everything will fit nicely. Seems liek your trying to make more work for yourself.

I did some research and found this out...
The 99/00 si IC kit should not be used on the sohc motors. instead get the sohc kit from greddy. it will not bolt on to the same location as the 99/00 location does. it should and most likely will bolt up to the same location(s). you might have to trim the pipe that connects to the turbo, because the turbo may sit lower.

Piping Size

50mm from the turbo to the IC then 50mm from the IC and
changes up to 60mm before the TB. Only the upper pipe is 60mm if I remember right. -- Quote from Hatchblack https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=212578

also read this thread for some more insight
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=249530

hope all this helps make your decision.

Summary...

You have to modify the 99/00 si piping to fit to the IC, maybe where it mounts to.
The sohc kit should fit fine.

Ok thanks for the info guys...
For that I take it trying to use the Greddy Type 24 or 31 IC (92-95) in my setup will be more of a hassle...

So what would you guys sugguest are far as a intercooler? I am trying to do this right the first time and with as little headaches as possible. My main concern w/ the apexi and greddy ic's are they are made to be used with each kit specifically, but I want to know it that piping will line w/ the turbo and clear the downpipe.

SETUP
2000 Civic Ex
D16y8 w/ maxrev manifold & t3/t4
maxrev downpipe

The Choices

- Greddy Type 31 or 24 IC kit (92-95 sohc) (not sure the piping will line correctly)

- Drag IC and piping (should fit w/o issues)

- Revhard IC and piping ( same as drag)

- MaxRev IC (piping would need to be made locally)

- PWR IC (piping would need to be made locally)

- Apexi GT intercooler from the (92-95 sohc),
Pics i found are here: http://www.wabe.net/silum/turbo.html

What do you guys say??

So do you guys think I should try the Greddy/ Apexi IC and piping or get the PWR IC and have custom piping made to use?

I was wanting to use that Apexi IC and piping, but Apexi doesn't have part numbers for the charge pipe and ping connecting to compressor and airfilter..

I spoke w/ GReddy and the offer a IC kit and it comes w/ all the needed piping, only thing I will have to do is have the bov flange welded to charge pipe and maybe do some trimming of pipe off IC to turbo...

I have narrowed it down to 3 choices..

1- Get the Greddy Type 24 IC
(come w/ all needed piping (aluminum) and should line from TB to IC, only that may need to be fabbed up is piping from IC to turbo..)

2- Get Drag IC and piping
(read that piping sucks and starts to rust, IC is good for up to 500HP)

3- Get the PWR and do custom piping
(not sure of cost for local shop to do)

For overall simplicty I think I will try the Greddy.. What you guys sugguest?

How much do you plan on boosting??

I think the type 31 is nice.
Otherwise the drag intercooler.

If you're not planning on boosting over 15psi why are you going to get the type 24?

I have several friends that boost up to 15 psi and have either a type 31 or equivalent to its size...

Type 31 or Drag....

Just my 2 cents...

Take care,
