03 SI hard to shift 5th to 4th
I was test driving an 03 si with 137k on it. Only problem I noticed was when in 5th it was hard to down shift to 4th. It felt like the shift would go into a notch (wouldn't grind or anything) then had to put it in neutral and then shift to 4th. Any info on this, perhaps stretch cables?
Looking for some input before I buy.All other gears felt great and it was only on the downshift from 5 to 4.
I appreciate the input!

your answer ain't really helping him since he doesn't have the car so changing to amsoil won't do any good...
Could be a lot of things, best bet would be to get it check out by a good mechanic... do you know if any work was done on the tranny prior?

had the same problem with my 02 si....there are nuts on the inside that you can tighten to tighten those cables up mine also wouldnt go into 4th...tighten those up and you should be good
The question is, are you getting enough of a deal on an otherwise clean car that it would be worth replacing/rebuilding the trans in a worst case scenario?
Allot of people dont change the trans fluid when needed, I didn't for the first 40k on my car and it plain out wouldn't shift into 4th. Changed the fluid and no problems till i lost 2nd and 3rd but thats gonna happen
