I need a 4 door car. I've decided on a 4 door Si. I can afford a brand new one, but is it worth the price compared to a 2006 - 2010 model? I am just trying to get the best car I can get. I have no problem buying brand new, but if the 08 had some features that the new one lacks then who knows. Kind of like how a 2000 Si was a lot better than a new 2002 Si, so to speak.

What is the 4 door Si to get in terms of 2006+? Thanks guys.

 

yeah they're all the same so to speak. The 09+ would be like the ap2's if you will, save the bigger motor. The 09+ comes with several features that were an option for the 06-08. The 09 front is more aggressive to, everyone will agree on that. Get an 09+.

 

if anyone sees anything I forgot feel free to add, 4 door Si started in 07..

08 added red stitch shift boot , TPMS , 3rd gear issue was fixed during this MY you can check the TSB in the sticky for more info..

09 changed the rim style, front bumper, fog lights standard, rear tailights to clear turn/ yellow bulb, and added a chrome piece on the trunk, along with a white trunk spoiler LED (instead of red on the 07/08).

I didn't mind an 07 since the price was right and I prefer the front over the 09 ..jmo

 

I'm not liking the new SI front ends. I think they look cheap. The black grille doesn't do anything for me. Definitely like the prior style better.

 

Theirs also several interior differences on the 09's that I don't feel like typing.

 

They didn't fix the third gear issue. I have an 08 and had third, secon, and first fixed. I would wait for the 2012 SI in May.

 

The USB port in the armrest is about the only difference. Layout wise their identical.

 

my 2011 si has a black cover over the intake manifold and i know the older ones have a silver one.. when did they actually add that?

 

USB port ftw, they used diff fabric for the doors, moved the mirror switch to the door panel, they have vsa don't know if 06's have that.

 

Mirror switch is on the door in 07/08, VSA is on the dash. The mirror control was on the dash in the VSA spot on the coupe.

Certain vins were still affected in 08 which is why I said for more info check the TSB. 09 they started using P/N 23444-PNS-316 for the 3rd gear set which is the part in the TSB. I just had mine done last month and now they use 23444-PNS-326.

 

They didn't put in the interior color lighting in the sedan, I think it is still an option on the coupe though... would have been nice in red....

The fabric on the seats is different on the '09 as well. VSA first appeared in '07 on the Si.

OP: I'd personally go for the 09+ because of the different front bumper and wheels. The motor is exactly the same on all '06-'11 Si's, and the interior is 99.9% the same as well.

 

There is a much bigger difference from the AP1 to the AP2, than from the '08 to '09 Si. The Si is pretty much the same car from '06 to '11.

 

Agree--the 2012+ Civic IMO is like the AP2 to the 06-11 cars' AP1. It's the same basic architecture and a new engine...like a really thorough MMC rather than a true FMC. They did this on the RL for 2009+ as well.

 

@Twitch--I have an 09 and love it. I'd look for an 09 if I were you.

And also, get the NAV. It's worth it Voice command for everything + bluetooth + controlling iPod through the screen = I forget I'm driving a Civic sometimes.

 

What do you mean you got it fixed?

My third gear in the 08 pops out when it feels like it, and seems to happen to alot of people but Honda has failed to say that it is a on going problem and they are going to do anything about it...

 

There's a TSB out for it; how is that Honda not acknowledging the problem?

 

If you are under warranty just have them duplicate the issue, they should know about the TSB. Mine was done in one day and they paid for my rental while they did it. Got almost 2000 miles on it since the fix and haven't had one prob since.

 

get an 09+ because the front looks a lot nicer than the 08s, and they also have a usb port and an AUX port which is a lot nicer, the throws for shifts are also shorter on the 09+

 

There are some color changes as well starting in 09. Polished Metal Metallic and Dyno Blue Pearl are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.

 

Redline Orange Pearl (mine) replaced Habanero Red.
