I have 2.25 inch pipe running into an ES oval muffler with no resonator. It sounds great and has the sleeper look, but I have a problem. Whenever it rains heavy, my exhaust shakes so violently that it hits the passenger floor pan (2k1 civic). Whenever it is dry or there is a little light rain I have no problem, but when it poors this always happens. The clearences seem fine and if I shake the exhaust by hand it never hits. Does anyone out there know what might be going on? Any help would be great.

when you move it by hand it could still shake - re-torque all the connections

were all of exhaust hangers welded in same location as stock exhaust? I'm thinking that hangers of midpipe where resonator would usually go are missing/or loose

 

All of the stock hanger sections were retained. Honestly when I am under the thing it feels pretty stout. It only has about an inch of play when I shake it by hand. I will see if I can get under her tomorrow and back the bolts off and re-torque them tomorrow, maybe that will help. It just seems odd that it would only do it when wet.
