Default Tips on buying a used auto tranny

My friend just recently killed her transmission in her 95 DC, I found a couple cheap ones for sale on my local forums. Is there any way to check them out and make sure they are in good shape before I throw it in?

Any info would be appreciated

TIA

Just make sure the tranny has low miles, good looking case, and buy from a stand up person. Stay away from AS-IS no return items.

I would never buy a used Tran unless it came out of a car I had test driven, or it comes with a warranty of some sort.

I would check your local bone yards, a pick and pull type place will be the cheapest and most bone yards will come with an exchange policy of some sort, most will also have a "cross reference" to let you know what other cars have a transmission the will fit into the "95DC" but I believe any B series engine tranny will work, but check. 94
