Default Turbo EM1 2000 civic si Tire Size

Im looking to get new tires on my turbo EM1...currently its making 395 at 14psi dyno'd
im running a little more now since adding the s300 boost controller feature,

getting right to the point i have 215/35r18 nitto neo gens...they are horrible although there kind of bald now...i realize traction is going to be a issue regardless but since im buying 4 summer tires figured id go bigger. Now the car did have the rear wheels wells cut on the outside to clear for more room and the fronts never rubbed with this tire size.

Im thinking of getting 225/40r18...prob s drives or the hankook summer tires...You think this will have a problem fitting?....i figured the extra width may help traction somewhat....and the taller tire should help out with traction too while giving me a little more gear in each gear since there taller ( my gears are really short with si tranny)

i do have a lsd installed but with the neo gens im breaking loose at 65 mph still...so if i can at least get traction over maybe 50 it would help..

i have fully adjustable suspension so im thinkn they should fit without much work...just figured id see if anyone else has done something similar...

thanks

my other option is 225/35r18...which should fit no problems...but i fgirued the taller tire might help even more..plus give me slightly more gear

which hankooks are you looking at? compound in my opinion is worth a lot more than width.

the hankooks are the ventus k112 v12 or something like that....i have 245/40r18 on my 2006 TL and i love them....figured id get the same for the civic too

they are sttrcitly summer tires so im sure that will help in itself since the neo gens are rated for all seasons... thats another thing 225/35 my choices are limited....225/40 have alot more tires....im thinking the 225/40 will fit....no normally taller would be stupid cause its slowes you down...but i dont need to worry about that with the power im making

I would get rid of the 18s all together and get more tire under there.I thought that was a typo at first. Do you not want to run a drag radial?

i want to keep the 18's ...its a daily driver in the summer....if anything ill buy 2 16's for the track ect...it has a full body kit fenders a decent amount of body works... i just wanted to know if you would think the 225/40r18 would fit...i think they have more benefit over the 215/35's all seasons im running now

honestly you really should get a smaller rim. look for the mt et streets, i know they make a 205/50/15. you can also go with a bfg 225 width tire. i ran them with a little more hp than you but no boost by gear and they worked well

get a smaller rim and run the hankook rs3, yoke ad08, kumho xs or dunlop start spec.

probably should mention the bridgestone 11 but it's just not worth the premium price compared to the others listed. it's like the same tire for more $

if you're looking for maximum traction, you're gonna need something like an re11, azenis, star spec, etc.

Yea i agree 16's are better but for this summer im not dropping the money on new rims and tires......im not sure if they have them in the size i want tho...i dont even know for sure if the 225/40r18 will fit(which is the size that has alot more options)....if they dont fit then im really limited on tire choice(which id go with yokohoma s drives 225/35r18)... Regardsless im gonna have traction issues on 18's im only trying to improve is somewhat since right now its a joke..although the boos by gear has helped alot

ok im just going to go with the yokohama s drives 225/35r18..nobody really chimed in saying they made the 225/40r18 fit...so its not worth trying it out since im buying my tires online and cant return them..plus im not going to adjust all my suspension just to accomodate a bigger tire size...Next summer ill sell my 18's im going to go with some 16's and the falken azenis r415-h in 215/45r16...Looking for some type r cams though if anyone is selling them let me know...

i also said i wasnt going to go with a smaller rim...and that i was keeping the 18's...i cant get anything soft in the 35r18 tire...only in the 40 series...this is why i was trying to ask if it a 225/40r18 would fit on the car....But i really think its going to rub so im not going too bother...if someone had said yea i had them on my car hardly rubbed then id buy them...but im not taking the risk i have fiber glass fenders

the s drives are still a summer tire vs the all season neo gens i had..so maybe the traction will be slighlty better since its a grippier tire and the extra witdth 215 vs 225 35r18

there are just NO GOOD choices in 35

the michelin ps2 is probably the best i noticed but TR is sold out of them, the s drive just doesn't have the traction with your hp

.id really like to just get the 225/ 40 r18 cause like you said there are softer tires in the 40 series... maybe ill just get them and make it work...i have the tein type flex suspension...and camber kits front and back. so i can alwyas just raise it a little anyways and adjust it

i dont have any pics right now lol...you guys would prob just bash on in anyways it WAS going to be more for show....ive had it since high school and my mind set was alot diffrent then thats when i did all the body work was awhile ago (its not hacked either). I only turbo'd it about three years ago...then cracked a sleeve and had the darton mids put in...im running more boost than when it was tuned at 385... 14 psi then vs about 18 now... it hits boost cut alot tho the boost by gear creeps alot on the s300...thats a whole diffrent problem...going to have that fixed when i get it back on the dyno for re-tune

im just debating the 40 series if it rubs alot its only going to be more of a headach then im going to just end up getting 16's anyways...

Well im thinking ill get the 40 series prob the hankook rs-3's ill let you know how it makes out...

haha ur smart, cuz we do some massive bashing on 18s...bodykits...

but seriously if u want to keep the 18s u can roll the pinch in the fenders so they dont rub, ive never done it just seen it done, that along with good susp alignment

yea i think im going to buy 16's and get 215/45r16 prob the kuhmo tires or the falken azenis...i would like to just buy tires for the 18's this summer and sell them when summer is over and buy the 16's ...i just dont think that 225/40 r18 is really going to fit the car....i had the rear wheels wells cut or rolled out but the front i havent done anything...and there fiberglass so i doubt i could do much anyways...i think its just too much of a risk buying the 225/40r18 the 215/35r18 dont rub at all but thats a bigger tire both width wise and overall diameter

i have really good suspension...so i could adjust but i think its just either going to look stupid or goign to rub either way
