is it true that if your motor is tuned on e85.. it's recommended that oil is changed every 2 months? any other heads up for e85 tuned and running motors i should know about?

 

i change mine every track day or 300 miles.

 

wow.. i have not changed my oil since the day i bought it in feb. but now my car is burn oil on every cold start up.. when its warmed up everything is fine.. i guess i need to change to thicker oil

 

plus my oil is still looks clean.

 

I change the oil on my E85 Evo every 5,000 miles.

Have yet to change the oil on my E85 Honda, has only 50 miles on it so far.

 

e85 doesn't get as much carbon deposits as unleaded gasoline.. why is it that e85 needs its oil changed sooner?

 

I don't change it any different than when I ran gasoline.

 

any of you guys mind sharing your mpgs and hp levels your expriencing with e85.

E85 will dilute the oil faster if you take lots of short trips and not let the crankcase heat up enough for it to evaporate.

I put the smiley because it was the mpg of an Evo not a Honda. Not sure if it was a relevent comparison.

I'm happy. On 93 I was getting 25MPG, I was expecting a much larger hit honestly, its nice paying a doller less per gal so I think I'm saving money haven't done the calculations though. Runs great on the E85

I would say that's very good, considering a stock EVO gets like low 20s maybe at best on regular gas? with much less power

 

yes, not bad at all. to give comparison a stock evo dyno's around 220whp on that dyno i put 370 down on (mustang).

 

Been running my k20 on e85 for a year now. Still do 2,500ish mile oil changes

mustang dyno's tend to read higher then other dyno's, how was the tune, really aggressive or mild ?

I always thought mustangs read lower then dynapacks/dynojets but at the end of the day there just numbers.
Not really sure, I just sorta let the tuner do his thing, afr's are at 12.9-13.0 that's all I really know, I don't know much about tuning

 

Yes, mustang dyno's read lower. Any dyno is just a tool.

 

On all motor honda's we see an average of 20-25mpg on e85. Lean it out, add some timing for cruising loads - its a good difference.

 

you guys are right, i had it backwards mustang dynos read lower.

its very good to hear that guys are still getting nice mileage. it ends up being the same in the end power vs milage, you just have to stop at the pump a bit more often.

all we need is all pumps to start carrying e85.
