dpfi air intakes question
I am running a d15b7 with dpfi. Now after reading around I keep finding different suggestions on air intakes.
Some says just toss the filter right onto the manifold. Since longer intakes are more strain and are less useful.
Others insist upon SRI, while some say CAI still provides the best performance.
I am just looking for some opinions on what you might think is best.

I would remove the philips screws holding the lid down, then remove the little flap located on the opening of the box that says DPFI.
Then attach a SRI to that same piece and leave it like that. No need for a CAI on a DPFI piece of ****. You wont notice anything, I promise.
Oh and put a piece of rubber over the intake so it doesnt short with the battery.

Ive already removed the little "butterfly" piece, and the lil mesh filter. Then even enlarger the hole on the piece below that.
At that point a SRI and tossing the filter straight on it will still pull hot air regardless.

if you knew it was still going to suck in hot air, why would you even ask for an opinion? might as well go get a CAI for your 70hp motor. I promise twice the horsepower. Honest.
Why do you wanna throw an intake on?? Your car will still be slow. Do a D16Z6 head swap and call it a day.
Just save up for an MPFI conversion.
Regardless of what you do with that DPFI box, the most you are going to get with your mods are a little noisier intake. Since the air has to make a 90 degree turn into the throttle body, the design of the box actually swirls the air which improves air flow.
I am in the process of pulling together pieces for a mpfi swap. I just currently have piping to do a SRI or a CAI. Soooooooooo I was just curious on which of the three options would be best for my lil 92hp crx lol. Not looking for power gains, just looking for which option offered the best performance.
SRI and straight filter both pull hot air, but have little to no strain.
CAI has cold air, but a hella long pipe.
and the mesh was already out when i bought the car. Apparently the prev owner left the butterfly piece, but took the mesh? no idea.

Anyway, CAI will perform consistently while the SRI will see the effects of heat soak and not perform the same time after time. The CAI will also consistently provide more power. We aren't talking much (maybe 2hp with the 1.5l), but it is more.
With the volume of air the 1.5 DPFI pulls in, I doubt you will even notice any slowed throttle response if you run the CAI. I have never read a post where somebody complains about how bad the throttle response is... it's usually the opposite where people can't notice the difference or the difference is super small.
Personally I ran both. SRI is noisier, took up more engine compartment space, and rubbed the paint off my shock tower.
CAI I liked until it the rubber coupler rattled loose and the lower elbow fell off on the freeway (didn't have splash guards in wheel wells so that half got run over and abandonded)... hence why I ever had an SRI.
Yeah, Do the MPFI. Thats probably going to be the thing power/$$ speaking. If you have all the stuff, do a CAI. It made a big difference in my GSR integra and the Z6-EF sedan I have over the short rams I had on the cars.
