09 Civic burning smell inside cabin
Hello all! I am new to the forum and posting for the Girlfriend. She has an 09 Civic EXL and lately has been getting an intermittent burning smell inside the car. We checked and its not from the motor or exhaust. Its an auto so its not the clutch. We've taken it to the dealer and they were no help, they disassembled the seat heaters and cleaned the coils but that hasnt solved anything. It seems to be coming from the transmission. Anyone else have a similar issue or any suggestions? We're fed up with the dealer and would appreciate ANY help. Thanks very much!!!

Check your exhaust pipe underneath the car....the WHOLE pipe. More than likely she snagged a plastic bag and it has melted onto the exhaust pipe or header causing the smell. Yes the pipe does get that hot. You'll notice residue on the pipe and that smell will not go away until it completely burns itself out.
Do you smell it only when the car has been running for a while or right after shutting it off? More than likely that's what it is.
