Do you folks think the 99-2000 should be considered like a "6 and a half" generation?

I think there are enough differences to make an argument for that. How about you guys?

No. Do you think the 98-01 Integra should be the "third and a half" generation?

Only the Si carried that chassis code. But yes, considering the 99-2000 had another chassis code, I think that is part of the discussion.

You are inferring that this is a correlation to the differences between the 96-98's and 99-2000 civics. I don't think that is a valid comparison, because the differences between the civics is much greater than the changes on the Integra in those years.

On Civics, 96-98's are similar, but 99-2000's had different hoods, different lights, different front fenders, different bumpers, different radiator supports, different climate controls, different trunks, different rear fenders, different rear lights, a model with a completely different engine, different wiring harnesses, and a completley new generation of ECU's.

I think this staggering amount of changes qualifies for at least a historical note of the differences, rather than lumping them all together as the sixth generation.

i totally agree with what your saying. but i think that most ppl use the term "generation" as a broad topic. thats why when you want to get specific ppl use chassis codes. but i do think they should classified differently

Agreed, but the 96-98's and the 99-2000 US models have the same chassis codes. I frankly don't see Honda's reasoning on this at all. I mean, 92-95 Hatchbacks and sedans have different chassis codes, but use the SAME hoods and fenders? While on the other hand, a 96 Sedan and a 98 Sedan have the SAME chassis code but COMPLETLY DIFFERENT hoods and fenders????

Just odd, IMHO.

EP is the new Si hatchback and Type R...EM2 is the Coupe/Sedan 7th Gen (EM1 was the 6G Si) Chassis

They are the Honda chassis codes. They are contained within the first few digits of the VIN of the vehicle. People have generally chosen to use one chassis code as a representative code of a generation (such as EG representing the fifth generation), but no EG's were "officially" sold in the United States. (the fifth generation hatchbacks were EH2's and EH3's, but are still referred to as EG's).
