Which unit would one use as in terms of preference?

This is an easy solution to this. Ask your tuner what he wants to use.

 

i dont have a tuner nor would i ask him for the mere fact thats a 1 sided opinion.

 

just buy my aem ems and you'll be set

 

why would i do that and pay for shipping when i can get one for 200 locally? just looking for a solid answer.

Power FC is not exactly easy to use, in fact most "tuners" won't touch one.
S300 is a lot easier to use & much more widely supported.

 

Are you tuning your own car? if so, look at the software for the 2, decide which one you understand the best and choose that.

If you are going to have someone else tune it, have a discussion with them, find out which one they are most familiar and comfortable with, and go with that. Chances are if you use the system the tuner is most familiar with, the better the results will be

 

I wouldnt say most tuners wont "touch" one...its a great unit, but they must certified through classes and training from Apexi in order to tune one (legitimately). There are many options out in the world today, and i would agree with the statements above...do your research, and find out which one will suit you best based on your needs/goals/etc and the availability of a good tuner around you depending on how far you are willing to travel or how deep your pockets are.

 

my pockets are decent but i want to hit at least 400 or 500 max on my lsv-t. stock block forged internals

 

if your the one tuning the car then do whatever you want....but going with what your tuner wants to use is always the correct choice.
and of course its 1 sided....if you knew what you were doing when it came to tuning and tuning systems you wouldnt be on here asking.

you can get a aem ems for $200? if so i would say get it then cause they go for 1100-1300 brand new or 600-750 used. aem ems also has more stuff to it then hondata s300

 

That's because Apex'i is very particular on who gets their full software. Plus, many "tuners" here want the cute features that Power FC doesn't and won't care about.
