Is it necessary to have the sandwhich plate that goes between the block and oil filter or can i just run a line from the oil pressure gauge in back of the block?

 

the oil sandwich is fairly preferable since the "T" fitting that goes into the pressure gauge has a tendency to break off due to vibs... if you dont feel like running the sandwich than screw in an AN line to the pressure gauge hole and remote locate the "T" and you will be fine
