Default CEL P1457

My CEL light has been on for a couple months, so I had my friend check it and got a P1457 code. I've read other threads stating that the Canister Shut Valve has to be replaced, but those threads deal with the 98-02 Accord. Another thread that deals with a 96 Accord says that it's the EGR valve. I can't seem to find the CVS valve for the 96 Accord online at all. The CVS costs $50, the EGR costs $189. I want to know which one do I have to buy, since there is a big price difference between the two. Anyone had a similar problem ? I have a 96 Accord.

I wouldn't replace the EGR, seems the problem lies in the EGR passages in the intake manifold. I've ordered up the EGR chamber gasket: http://tasauto.com/Product/Detail.as...7146&d=305&p=1
Part # 2817146
Seems the runners get plugged up, not sure if this will help your situation, but seems like good preventative maintenance. The EGR valve can be cleaned and reused... so it seems. I've done a lot of searching and reading, EGR valve is something I don't want to replace $$$

The P1457 is not caused by a problem with the EGR valve or anything EGR related. Diagnose the EVAP system before replacing parts.
