Default My SS wont get faster.

Well I finally got my DC header on today and I raced my friends stock 2000 Accord EX V6. It seems like every mod that I do to my prelude doesnt help it much. I am not sure whats wrong. We were similar until VTEC.. Once I hit VTEC he was pulling away from me. My current mods are AEM CAI... DC header.. Greddy Evo... AEM Pullies... I am not sure what is wrong. It seems as if the car doesn't pull as much when VTEC engages. Help me please. Or is it that SS are just slow as hell?

The SS is kind of slow. but i think someone makes a shift kit for it. My advice get new spark plugs (1 step colder) msd or crane ignition and run about a 60 shot of nos that will shut him down pretty good. Also i have a question for you. How does your greddy evo sound? do you like it?

The Greddy has a nice deep sound.. The only thing is that it looks out of place without a kit, since its so big.

The SS preludes are slow no matter what, unless you decided to add a shot of NOS....You should've just boughten a 5spd, and you wouldn't have this problem....

I believe that this will help out, 300ZX's use this mod also.I'm not sure how much it will help, but i am thinking about purchasing this for myself. Then swap to 5spd later on in the future.

If you do race him from a roll, u can def take him. It also depends on how u drive your SS lude. Do u use auto or the ss mode? use the SS mode and shift around 7800-8000 so u can stay in vtec. To be honest, u gotta know how to drive ur car, even tho it's auto. I mean u got e/h/i/p and he's stock? stock v6 accords run 16's, same as auto lude stock. IF u want speed, just get a TQ and slap on some nos, u'll be in high 13's to low 14's, lates

Yeah you would think I could beat him from a roll. But the thing is I was even with him until my VTEC engaged... At the end of my first and 2nd gear. And I shift Right before 8000 rpm in SS mode. When I first raced him I lost from the beginning till the end now that I have I/H/E/P I lose to him when Vtec hits.. I am not sure why Maybe I need a V-AFC?

Another thought... Do you think since the SS reaches its max hp 195@6600.. that revving to 8000 rpm makes you lose too much power that it doesnt make up for being in vtec? Just a thought.

SS is hella-slower, you get about 144whp compared to the 5-spd which runs about 166whp, torque is the same. You lose about 30% hp w/ the auto and 20% w/ the 5spd. So no matter what you do to the Lude, u gotta take that into account. In the end...just get an engine swap w/ complete tranny and all the other parts you need to make it a 5-spd. Or you could just trade in your current car for a used 5-spd.

Just a thought.
