Default First swap - b16a (si) to D16y5 (hx)...any tips?

I have a 98 civic ex with a 00 b16a swap currently in my car.........just picked up a rear ended 98 civic hx that drives fine but has major rear end damage.

Im going to put the hx motor in my civic to use it as a commuter car......any tips or things to watch out for since this will be my first engine swap?

I commute 500-600 miles a week, the b16a has almost 200k on the engine, and high revs with an unorthodox racing pulley did not mix well. Currently the crank pulley has a wobble too it, so im not sure how much life is left.

Use the HX harness and ecu of course, due to the lean burn tech. Make sure you have the 5 wire 02 sensor for true lean burn. You will really enjoy high 40 mpg numbers if you are doing mostly highway. Check out ecomodder.com and gassavers.org for helpful hints on getting even better mileage. Part out the B16 and profit immensely. Although I could get 36 mpg out of a jdm b16 with the stupid short trans, 40+ will make a big difference when gas hits 4 to 5 per gallon.

How many miles are on the HX motor? Once the motor is out is the best time to change the timing belt, water pump, and clutch.

103k, the owner of the hx who I bought it from just had everything changed....timing belt, catalytic converter ....etc etc.....unfortunately the previous owner sold the hx wheels but I already have some 14 ib wheels already on my ex so I should be good since the hx wheels are only 2 ibs lighter

not sure what exactly to part out on the b16 though that has alot of value

dont forget about the HX tranny. U will need to use that as well to get the mpg. I have a 96 HX and i run 3000 rpm at 80mph. I have 220,000 on my motor all stock and runs like new. An u know about the one intake valve roller rockers and the 2800 vtec engagement. I love the setup. I will be installing p29's in mine soon just want a little bit more power.

b16 w/ 200k is still worth $. A working part is a working part. Craigslist w/ desperate people seeking things to get their swap completed really has no effort to it and you can make some extra cash...pretty quickly too in cali w/ way more tuners around. Not saying youd be ripping people off, just saying it doesn't matter that the crank pulley is going to fall off eventually. Part it out the way it is and you'll be happy.

If the b16 has a bad crank pulley, find a used one for $20-30 and replace it. The engine will last much longer than 200k

Vtec heads and trans are what most people pay decently for. I'm sure you could get someone to buy it all for a grand.
