Default D16z6 Problems, any help would be awesome!

So I just got an 1990 EF Hatch three days ago. It had sat for over a year. It has a D16z6 swapped with a p28 ECU.

Now for the problem: If i ease on the throttle, it accelerates fine, but sometimes when I accelerate, and i give it more gas, it feels like its choking. It's very intermiten when it does this. More so when its warm. But it does it when its cold as well.

To get the car running, I have replaced the plugs, o2 sensor, Injectors, fuel filter.

I have not replaced the oil, as i ran out of money. This friday it will get new oil filter and oil.

I have been running premium gas in the car as well, to try and clean out the fuel lines a little bit.

Any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

If its converted to obd-1 you might have to switch the 2 outside tps wires around.

I doubt its the TPS is the problem if its not throwing a code. I would say keep running it and try to get all that old gas out. If that doesnt help I'd tune it up. Cap, rotor, wires, all that jazz.

sorry i havent responded, i have been at work all day. @sanimalp, it does have a check engine light.

@hatchcrap, I dont know if its converted, pretty sure its not, but i'll double check

@alfie, i swapped the fuel rail from when i did the injectors, but it came from a d15, i dont think that it would make a difference going from a d15 into a d16, could be wrong. I think i know just enough to get into trouble, lol.

Alright, your very first task is to fix the check engine light. Do that, and if the car is still having problems, we can continue from there.

^^ u never know. a lot of people run obd0 on d16z6 just to make it run without converting the car.

The reason that occurred is because the fuel pump drew more and more amperage as it failed, tripping the ELD. Any device hooked up downstream from the ELD that fails or grounds out can cause the ELD to trip. The reality is the ELD is generally not bad itself, but something downstream is drawing too much current causing the issue.

plain and simple, if you are running a p28, your car is obd1. there's no way to run an OBD1 ecu on a fully obd-0 car. and on top of that theres a REAL good chance that your car isn't an si, which would mean it was mpfi swapped as well as converted to obd1. unless the previous owner did a hack job you should have an obd-0-obd1 jumper harness attatched plugged into your ecu, look to see if there's two wires hooked up to a switch or just chillin that you can ground out. if not, stick a paper clip in the blue service connector on the passenger side kick panel to make the CEL flash the codes.
