IAB question with sk2 manifold
so im thinking of buying this 97 gsr with a blown engine. car is clean and good shape. wouldnt be much of a job for me to swap engines. well this would be my first obd2 motor to mess with. my question is when adding a sk2 intake how do i address the issue with the iabs? i know this will throw a cel since theyd be unhooked and thatd cause me to not pass emissions testing. could i just tune and chip the ecu to bypass the secondaries? orr should i just leave the stock mani? any info is helpful
Yes you will need a chipped ecu with a gsr basemap. But your car will not throw a CEL with the stock ecu. I had the same thing when I first bought my GSR in 06. It runs better on a chipped ecu with a Skunk2 IM.
so no cel with iab unplugged. im looking to keep the obd2 head and this motor emissions friendly. running an obd1 ecu isnt gonna let me pass smog i dont think. indiana sucks. i have a b16 swap ef that hasnt been plated cause of emissions
Smog does suck but I have a buddy who passed emissions with a turbo setup before on his 97 Hatch. Its doable just more work. Unfortunately in Washington they are trying to make every county do emissions now. Which will also suck for me. **** Emissions
