So when I bought my car it had a resistor box wired on to the injectors so I assumed it had bigger injectors on it and I'm pretty sure it was previousaly boosted.

So I tore the resistor box out and the only injector swaps I can find you need to turn on the car, which I can't really do because I don't want to go to all the trouble of wiring the resistor box back up.

Does anyone know of a DIY guide to change injectors with the car off??

 

What reference are you looking at? Why does the car need to be on? Or are you saying the key needs to be in the ON position?

 

Well in my helms manual it says you need to do some stuff with the fuel pump then turn the car on until it stalls to depressurize the fuel system.

Is there any way to do this without turning the car on?

 

You have to depressurize the system. Just like you would if you were changing out the fuel filter. This is so you don't get fuel spraying all over the place when you work on it with the system pressurized.

I'm not really understanding the issue you are having with these injectors. Remove the resistor box and larger injectors and wire up the stock injectors in their place. One at a time so you don't get the wiring mixed up.

 

There is a fuse in the engine bay fuse box for the ECU. I think it's labeled EMI or something like that. You can remove that fuse to prevent the car from starting. You can also start the car, with the back seat taken off, disconnect the fuel pump power plug and the car will eventually stall when it runs out of fuel.

 

Ok let me try to explain this.

I got the car with a resistor box and bigger injectors. The resistor box was rigged as hell and was wired straight up to the injectors. Not to the plug like all the DIY's tell you to do..

So I went ahead and tore that out so now the injector pigtails are disconnected from the engine harness and the injectors are peak and hold, so they won't work with my car without the box. And I don't know how to rewire the resistor box so I can't turn the car back on to drain the fuel from the system.

So there is NO power going to my injectors at all. So turning the car on is not an option.

 

My question is, how can I depressurize the fuel system without power going to the injectors?

 

Grab a rag and loosen up the bolt on the fuel filter or on the end of the rail. Use the rag to catch all the fuel that gets released.

So my question back to you is, are you swapping in the stock injectors?

 

Yeah I am. I took the injectors out today and the ones that were in there were about as far from stock as you can get.. I'm guessing probably 600cc.. is there anyway to find out?

Going to get new rings for the stock injectors tomorrow and hopefully swap them in soon.
