My 95 DX is running hot
I have a 95 DX Sedan, engine is stock. My problem is with running hot. I changed the timing belt about a month ago but I didn't touch the water pump. I am pretty sure that it is my water pump giving me problems but the intermittencey of it leads me to think I may have a few things going on that need attention. It is unusual to me because it will run about normal from 10in of vacuum to idle, but when I open the throttle for a while and the vacuum hits closer to 0 it will get hot pretty fast(most of the time). Where would be a good place to start? I am still learning the trade.
What I know that might help-
Head gasket is good
Passed compression test
Cat is hollow
Very recent new timing belt
No vacuum leaks
Recently replaced a worn radiator cap
Heat is still hot
Radiator hose gets warm when it should
No warning lights for low coolant
Squeaky noise at higher RPM's
Recently put 10w-30 motor oil in instead of the usual 5w-30
Weather just changed

Test or replace the thermostat before anything... Squeaky noise could be that your belt is too tight... Also, make sure your radiator fan is kicking on... Water pump is unlikely because the props are metal and you would be losing coolant through the weep hole...

i agree with hyperblu, check your thermostat and your fans
touch the lower and upper rad hoses to see if one is a lot cooler then the other, but do with very careful as both may be very hot.

Have you checked the coolant level in both the radiator and reservoir?
Have you bled the cooling system:
(this may take 20-30 minutes)
1) Park the car on an inclined driveway with the front end higher than the rear.
2) Push the dash heater lever/**** to MAX heat.
3) Follow the directions in the diagram below (hint: the bleed bolt is located where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine):

No boost. I am only running my alt belt at the moment, the noise seems like it is coming from my timing belt cover, the pensioner pulley is fine. I did lose a little coolant when my radiator cap went bad but my reservoir is still at an acceptable capacity.

You should be able to remove your thermostat completely, and run the engine. It probably won't warm all the way up, but that should be an indicator that your thermostat is sticking if its not overheating...
