Default What are the symtoms of a faulty VSS

Hi again just wanted to know what the symptoms are of a bad vehicle speed sensor (VSS) on a 97 Accord SE. I recently called a near by Honda dealer and they told me it isn't impossible that the trans problems I am having are from a faulty VSS but they suggest I need a whole new transmission. Please if anyone knows of any trans problems associated with VSS malfunction please let me know

thanks

Thanks but will it affect my trans in anyway. My trans shifts fine into 1st and 2nd but not into 3rd right away it will begin to shift normally within a few minutes

It *could* be the VSS but you would probably have a CEL associated with it.

Can you shift manually into D3 and D4 and have it shift at the correct time? It might be a bad/dying TCU as well.
