has anyone had this problem the car has new fuel filter and main relay and coil. car will run a little while dies and will only crank if i let it set awhile it will start and run for awhile and it dies any ideas

 

come on guys i know someone has to have an idea

 

are you assuming no spark or did you check? check your fuel pressure as well. possible pump.

 

coil is bad. it heats up then cant generate spark due to the metal of the coil expanding and losing contact some how, short solution, replace the coil in the distributor

 

The igniter will do the same. get hot and quit.

Replace the dizzy. Problem solved. If the igniter is on it's way out, you can bet the coil will follow.

 

hey thanks guys i already changed the coil and it did the same thing so im going to change the ignitor

 

And replace the cheap O ring on the end of the dizzy while you are at it.

Its the ignitor. Just had to replace it on mine.
