I have a 1995 honda civic ex auto, everything is stock on it...The problem I have been having is that the rmp's will drop however the car wont die, it just slows down and then picks back up to speed...It seems to do it more when I'm going slow around 25 mph... Another thing is that it seems to do it when my speed ometer isnt working... I have replaced the tps and have recently done a tune up...So anyone who thinks they may know the problem please write back...Thanks

 

did you calibrate the tps? what did you replace for your tuneup?

 

Spark plugs, and little things like that....and yes the tps has been calibrated...

Speedometer sensor??? A buddy of mine has a 94 accord ex and when his speedo sensor went bad he says it made the car run like ****, ive never had one go bad on me...and if your speedometer isnt working than neither is your vtec.

Does it surge while you are accelerating?

Have you replaced the distributor cap/rotor?

 

replace your vss, also have you ever done your fuel filter? it can be the cause of intermittent acceleration.

 

No I have not replaced my fuel filter or my distributer....My car just feels like I let off the gas when I don't then after like three secs. it will pick up to speed again...

Today my car's check engine light came on...it's throwing the tps code again...Could it be doing this because it may not of be calibrated correctly???

 

Yes. You could also have a bad plug. Try cleaning the plug, and check to see if it is calibrated correctly.

 

Sound like a iac motor goin bad if your rpm hopping up and down(from my understand) correct me if I'm wrong

 

Let me know if you find a solution, My '95 Civic is acting similar (my speedometer is working fine though). My car acts as you described for a bit, then the Check Engine light comes on, then it runs fine until the Check engine light shuts off.

 

Try cleaning out the throttle body. Buy a can of throttle body cleaner and follow the directions on the can. Thats what I did, and it fixed the problem with my car.
