Default clutch safety switch???

94 Civic

So a friends car would not start and I narrowed it down to clutch safety switch. Anyway as you can see in the pic there is a hole on clutch pedal circled in red. Is there suppose to be a rubber or plastic insert there that the switch hits? Does pedal have to be removed to replace whatever fills that hole?

Can't say if there's suppose to be anything there, but to check to see if it is the clutch safety switch pull the plug out of the switch and just jump it with a piece of wire and it should start.

That switch failing is very uncommon tho.

A bad ground or bad main relay is more common. What does the car do?

It is the safety switch but not the switch itself. The switch works (I know this because I unscrewed the switch and depressed the button by hand and started the car) however circled in red is the bracket from clutch pedal. There is a hole on it and when the clutch is pushed in the switch button just goes into the hole and doesnt get pressed down. My question is what covers that hole? I looked on floor board for any piece that may have fell out but couldnt find anything.

I edited the photo to try and explain. See the button (yellow) just goes through hole on bracket (red circle).

Alright I was wondering if that white piece worked. I was looking at my Del Sol today trying to figure out the cruise control. The Car is a manual and the clutch has a hole where the clutch pedal switch A and B should hit the pedal. also clutch pedal switch A which is at the highest point on the clutch and is activated when the clutch is fully depressed has no wires going to it.

You need rubber stoppers in those holes. Some people hot glue a coin over the holes.

I had the same problem, you don't have to remove the pedal to fix the problem. What I did was place a trim panel retainer on the tip of a flat head screw diver and slipped it in. It worked like charm.
