00 Civic EX with 255K,rod bearing advice
I'm looking for some input and advice on changing rod bearings in my Civic.
I did a search but came up with only a couple threads with marginal information.
Any decent write-ups here on the forum?
What bearings do most people go with?
It has 255K on the clock now and it will have to serve as my DD for at least another year,so it needs to last.
The motor does not have any rod knock and it runs perfectly,I'm just trying to stay ahead of the curve and prevent spinning a bearing.

I would say get ACL bearings but it seems they are no longer in business. Suppliers seem to be replacing them with King bearings.
As for a write ups, a FSM is your best friend.

Thanks,I'll print up the pages I'll need from the FSM.
Anyone care to chime in with normal oil pressure readings?
I've got an oil pressure gauge on the way, just wondering what to expect.

As long as you keep on your regular maintenance and don't beat on the car I don't see why you'd need to change them. If it makes you feel any better, plastigauge them and see how far off your clearances are. In my d15b2 all my clearances were within spec (unknown mileage) so I just replaced all seals and pistons rings, didn't need to change the bearings.

The oil pan gasket is starting to seep slightly so it needs to be dropped anyway.
Other motors I have torn down over the years show a good amount of rod bearing wear at 200K+ mileage.
I'm going to wait at least untill I have the oil pressure gauge installed to see what kind of numbers I get.
