can i purchase a viper alarm at best buy without the basic installation price? or can i atleast order it without them installing it for me?

 

just order it online, DEI product is all over the net. Best Buy, to the best of my knowledge, cannot sell DEI products cash and carry.

 

It's a policy DEI has. The Viper and Python lines carry a lifetime warranty from Directed, and Directed doesn't allow them to sell the units without them installing it (or at least having you pay for the install).

You can find them online, but just be careful. Some places sell refurb's or units along those lines which can carry a few issues with them.

 

DEI products come with lifetime warranty only if purchased and installed at an authorized dealer and a 1 year warranty if purchased at an authorized dealer but not installed at an authorized dealer.

Now that's the case up here in Canada, all/any new products purchased at authorized dealers must come with at least 1 year warranty against manufacturer defects, it may be diff. in the USA.

yeah you can buy it without the install..... i used to work as an install senior for bestbuy
the problem is that you still have to pay the full price even if your not having it installed so say $500 for alarm/install or $500 for just the alarm........

 

Things have changed....somewhat.

as of FEB 1st with DEI for them to warranty their product (flagship lines), it has to be purchased and installed by an authorized dealer - at least in the USA. This was brought about as a way to combat transshipping and the internet ******.

 

I'd think twice about purchasing Viper/Clifford online.. there will be NO warranty at all.

As for purchasing the product at Best Buy without installation, you are not supposed to be able to, the rules apply to them just as it does to any other dealer. Could you still? Possibly and only because some sales people/managers don't know any better, but if corporate gets whiff about it and it gets tracked to that store, someone will get a talking to. .... and the warranty will still be void.
