Default 96-1495 RR Build

Heres my 1996 ITR, true Japanese import in the process of building an entry level road race car. Car has 51,XXX on everything. All tastefull mods so far, Password:JDM power chamber intake/drain bolts/front strut tower brace, Jasma exhaust from japan. Using all AMSOIL fluids Dominator 10w-30 race synthetic/synchromesh manual trans fluid, and Motol RBF600 fluid In the Process of removing excess weight, spare tire/tools, rear seats, some interior plastics. The transmission has the OEM LSD installed, vehicle has no ABS/SRS. Hoping to shave off as much weight as possible. Radio/Air conditioning may end up coming out as well.

All work so far has been done at Synergy Auto Lab in Manchester, NH. Just ordered my Buddyclub Race Spec coil-overs, Hawk HP+ brake pads, and Russell stainless steel braided brake lines. Also looking into purchasing Password:JDM rear x brace, Sparco harness bar and some authentic Takata 4pt Harnesses. Hopefully the car will be ready for some upcoming track events here in the Northeast. I will keep the thread updated as new parts come in and are installed.

dont waste your money on the password rear x bar an the harness bar, and buy a autopower or kirk rollbar, much much safer in case of on track accident, and will stiffen car much better then the password bar, also get some proper padding for the rollbar

I don't follow the track scene that much. Does NH motor speedway up in loudon do anything?

Still good luck with any upgrades, hope to see it on the streets sometime.

Good looking car for a 15 year old caR! Probably due to the low mileage. Good luck with your project.

Yea there are events all aorund new england, there is one at loudon with the BMW club around June I believe, any car can sign up, its a HPDE. Same with Limerock and Watkins Glen just search online for available dates for HPDE... NASA is another great organization that sponsors local events.

Sorry for the long break in posts been very busy as of late... well needless to say the coilovers are in and set up, very happy with the quality and workman ship from buddyclub I expected nothing less... The only problem I found with these coilovers is there is no bracket to hold the brake line, I will have to fab up something to make it work...

Here are some pics during/after the install:

The install/setup specs directly from Buddy Club USA:

Spring pre-load:
Front-170mm (measured from top of spring to bottom of spring perch)
Rear-200mm (measured from top of spring to bottom of spring perch)
Note: all done without corner balancing- plan on corner balancing setup before a race event.

Ride height:
I set my ride hieght at 10mm between bottom of spring perch and top of hieght adjustment locking spanner for both the front and the rear. Somewhat aggressive camber, about -3 degrees. I may need to get the camber kit from buddy club at some point.

Dampning:
For break-in (3-days normal driving) I set the dampning to full soft to settle/seat springs.

(After 3 days) Fronts were set at 5 clicks from full soft, Rears were set at 7 clicks from full soft. Overall ride is comfortable on street but still stiff enough for moderate/spirited driving. Have not had a track day yet with this setup hope to have a race setup for everyone soon.

Also performed a 4 wheel alignment to re-align toe specs. Used 1997 ITR alignment specs.

Performed a headlight restoration kit, on my headlights they have recently been yellowing. The kit i bought at walmart worked amazing and it only cost $20. Here are some pics of the restoration:

Heres one unfinished:

Heres one done:

Thats it for now, should have more updates on the brakes for you soon...

That sucks that it doesn't have the ITR ABS system. That would have def helped you on the race track. Nice car though.

Bad news... so yesturady I was out for a spirited drive, to come home and see light white smoke as I parked the car in the driveway... popped the hood to find the top end tank seal on the radiator is completely blown... So I was forced today to buy the Koyo R53 race radiator, and also ordered my ATi super damper... So I guess there is a little light at the end of the tunnel, pics and info on the install later this week hopefully...
