Default 95 Accord Knocking, Didnt Search

Knocking sound coming from block, not tapping. I've never removed connecting rods or pistons so I was curious if i could remove the rods and the crankshaft by just removing the oil pan/pump.

What NORMALLY causes knocking anyway?

You need to remove the engine to remove the crankshaft.

Knocking is caused by excessive clearances, usually. But, on these vintage Accords, a "knocking" type noise is actually normal. If your noise is normal or not would depend entire on "your noise".

Knocking is not normal for this motor. Knocking may also be caused by a bent rod slapping the bottom of the cylinder You can drop the pan to see what is going on, but most repairs of this nature will require removal of the engine to repair.
