Default opinion on hood

so i bought my car with a fiberglass hood with 2 vents hoping to trade hoods with someone eventually...every r owner i ask says no which is understandable so my options are to get one from a junk yard and repaint or just trow on a black hood..thoughts?

Get an OEM hood from a junkyard or buy new (they aren't that expensive). Paint to match your car. How is this even a question?

Yea what Todd00 said. Why throw on a black hood. A paint job for just a hood is not much.

When you say "j spec" do you mean JDM front DC/DB? If so there's no point in going to your local junk yard for a used OEM hood. I dunno about your local junk yards but I think we all know very well that chances are slim to none you'll find a JDM front at your local yard.

If its USDM follow everyone's advice, Junkyard+OEM+Paint= FTW

EDIT:
PS- My painted Gnarbon fiber hood is warping (after 2 years, temperature extremes.) F-in sucks...go OEM/Metal for sure. Just my $.02

look at the guys location, he lives in japan, so he has a good chance of finding one in a junk yard

but yeah guy look around your local yards for a used oem hood and have it match painted, an if you cant find one, go new oem, it will be worth it, it will fit pefect and look good

My Bad.

Didn't even think to look at that since so many people don't use their true location.

In that case, I would assume you could find semi-easily.

GL!!!

I personally love the Black Widow hood. 2 hood scoopes to ram in air and reduce heat = high hp. It's sexy and functional.

im not sure why you had so much trouble with your carbon hood, i had a carbon hood on my itr for many years and it never warped or changed shape or did anything, maybe you had a cheap junk fiberglass hood with a carbon fiber top layer, which is what most carbon fiber hoods are now a days anyway, mine was 100% carbon fiber, top an bottom, an frame

100% respect for that, I purchased my car used w/the JDM CF hood already warped and it kills me because the rest of my car is so clean. Its a VIS hood which I always thought was decent, the reciept is from March of '09. Want to be up front though, I do live in the desert...we go from 110 to 30 from day to night, almost half of the year. This wheather isn't very common across the nation obviously...I don't have garage access so the car's subject to the worst of temperature extremes on a daily basis. Perhaps I'm a hater of the CF because of my particular experience, and the surrounding crowd of people in my local that are CF fan boy's... /rant there for sure.

Thread related- I guess I just see no need for CF when a perfectly fine OEM hood should be easily salvaged in the motherland of Honda but I'm a big believe in "keeping it in the family" and this is how I live too. One mans trash is another's treasure.

Edit:
My reason for CF dislike (please forgive, she's a work in progress) I just didn't want anyone to think I was throwing in $.02 w/out true experience.

The fit used to be 100% Perfect, perhaps I'm just ****...but its definitely a little off. From the front she looks okay, but from side angle its like "UGHHHH" (*frustration) Its almost as if it shuts a little too much.

Don't worry brother...its a pic of a JDM front w/a hood that doesn't line up properly.

This is the reason why I say OEM Metal FTW. HAHA
