Default vband sizes between housings

out of curiosity, is there a difference between the vband downpipe outlets on a vband housing precisino turbo and the tial vband housings they sell for garrett turbos?

i have a kit made for the precision turbos with the vband housing, but i also plan on running a garrett turbo with the tial vband housing on it. will the two be interchangeable?

No. they will not be interchangeable. 2.5" vband is precision. 3" v-band is TiAL housing.

its not hacking... simply cutting off a flange and welding a new one on. an adapter will be so long the downpipe wouldn't fit properly afterwards and it will probably cost more than doing it the right way to begin with... i.e having a new flange welded on

true, guess i'll have to do that. sucks because the only place i would trust to do this is over an hour away. i don't want some sloppy welder putting on a new flange

so i measured my precision housing earlier and it's 3", not 2.5". i googled it and a thread on evom said the pte inlet is slightly larger in OD, but it will fit. now i am wondering if they will in fact work.

You mean the outlet. There are one or two threads here that have shown that they are in fact not interchangable, and only the ATP v-bands (other than Precision) are the ones to use. But you can check yourself. The GT-R T3/v-band and TiAL V-band use the exact same clamp, but again, is more than likely different from the precision one.

Now its time to take the plunge and find out.

can you point me to those threads? i've googled but can only find the evom thread where a few people vouched that a tial housing can go on a setup for a precision setup, but not the other way around

I wish I could. Its just based on being dilligent and using key word search on Google based on Honda-Tech as part of your search. I've seen them but its been sporadic over the last year. You'll find 'em. But give ATP a CALL, as they've done this switch a number of times.
