Default Password JDM intake question

I'm about to buy a 2000 integra gsr with 140,000 miles the only problem is the check engine light is on but he said it's cause he has a password JDM intake (whales *****) on it and it's to big so the censor or whatever won't reach is this true. i drove it and it seemed to drive fine just worried cause he bought it 2 weeks ago and is selling it already he had a reason but you know how that is. lol

Or maybe he is selling it for more than he paid for it. I've done that before. Also you can take it to a local parts store like advance auto or something and they should be able to scan it.

Same here but mine came with the car.

I thought Honda's had all their sensors (IAT, MAF, etc) in the intake manifold/TB? It seems like this guy is trying to blow smoke up your ***... I wouldn't buy it with the CEL. If it was an easy fix he would have already fixed it.

There are no sensors to hook up to an Integra air intake system. The IAT sensor is on the top of the intake manifold, as was mentioned above. There are other sensors in that vicinity but they're all either on the intake manifold or on the throttle body.

The only thing coming off of the engine that attaches to the intake tube is the valve cover vent tube. It should be connected but I don't believe that would trigger a CEL if it's not connected.

It could be one or more issues...until you get that scanned you do not know what you are getting into.

Yea man deff sketchy. The fact that he's trying to flip the car so fast is a red flag. I know people that flip hondas on a weekly basis but, not a 2000 GSR thats a desirable car.
