d16y8 vtec dizzy work on a d167y non vtec engine?

i know that you cant use a non vtec dizzy on the vtec engine what about the other way around have a guy wanting my d16y8 dizzy to put on his d16y7 is there any problems when doing that

They're the same distributor, part number and all. '96 - '98 and '99 - '00 use different plugs though.
