Post Eddie422 d16y8 build

I bought my del sol for $700 its a 94 si but the car was stolen and they broke the the trunk lock off stole the passanger seat bracket broke a key off in the ignition cut the headlight and corner lens harness took the taillights and other things but i wont state all of them the car came with a d16z6 that was out of the car no battery basicly a shell and was sitting on different size wheels lol but hey $700 i can live with all that it is just gonna take some work.

then i came across a 97 civic ex that was completly totaled but had a fresh d16y8 in it with only 90k compared to the 200k z6 so i bought the whole civic for $300 yea u read right $300 i parted everything and kept the engine and trans then sold the z6 with the harness that i needed but didnt know it yet stupid i know. As of right now i have bought a z6 harness a z6 distributer z6 injectors new axles new 50/50 tailights new aux lights p28 ecu, a set of gsr blades, tein lowering springs and im pretty sure thats it.

the y8 is in and bolted just waiting on the harness and distributer to get here then my baby should be running no problem i hope but i alwayz seem to run into problem after problem.

Dont know y some of the pics are real small and some are big but whatever.

future plans: jdm headlights, carbon fiber rear garnish, carbon fiber targa, si front lip, 96-97 del sol front bumper, skunk2 intake manifold, b&m short shifter, hid kit, and some others

plans that will never be on this car!!!!!!!!!! NO body kit, no rice tail lights, huge exhaust, neon lights, nothing over 15" wheels, only oem spoiler,

I will post something everytime i do something the car should be up and running and tagged in the next month still waiting on my harness, injectors, and distributer if anybody knows something else i need for the y8 or just anything about the build feel free to post thanx guys

will not work. You cannot link to an image directly from your computer.

If this is going to be a real build you might want to get some pictures up and maybe put up a list of the mods you plan on making.

Since you are taking a venture into the great world of the D16Y8... maybe you could help me too. I got a remanufactured y8 for a civic with a locked up y8 in it. Car sat for about 2 years before I got it. Pulled the old motor bolted everything on the new one with new spark plugs fluids and seals. Dropped the new motor in plugged the harness and everything up same way it came off. Started it up drove down the street and back maybe 5 minutes of drive time got back turned it off and now it won't start again. Put in fuel system cleaner new gas, new fuel pump cleaned and checked injectors, checked fuel pressure off rail and all the fuel was good. Reset the timing. Checked for spark and had good spark and we have compression. I am lost... turn the key and cam turns but motor just won't fire. Pulled the plugs out and the brand new plugs were covered in black sut! Put in a new starter still no luck. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Installed my harness and everything but the new alternator got my amber corners on and ordered my TRUE jdm tail lights cant wait to get. Still thinking about getting a oem spoiler. As far as getting it running all i need to do is install my alternator and go to napa and get a couple new belts and it should be running in no time.

My god man, you should have just got a junked OBD2 harness and swapped the plugs onto yours so you wouldn't have to buy a new distributor, alternator, etc.
Good to see another del sol getting some love though.
