Default Run Stock Map on Forged Pistons During Break-In??

I know I might get flamed for this by people telling me to get it tuned right away, or that I don't need to do a formal "break-in", but this is what I'm thinking...

I'm getting ready to assemble my turbo motor with forged internals. The pistons I'm going to use are made by Supertech and should give a c/r of 9.6-10:1 on my LS motor. Stock c/r is 9.2:1 (incase you didn't know). What I'm wanting to know is can I break this motor in without a custom tune N/A'd before I put the turbo on and get a custom tune?? It would be about 500 miles or so. And this break-in period is recommended directly from the piston manufacturer, so that's why I'm swaying to that side instead of "no break-in needed". I'd also be running 93 fuel during this time to combat detonation. I'm thinking just this little bit of compression increase should be fine, but I just wanted to get some other opinions.

Any knowledge would be appreciated. Please leave the negative comments out. I'm not an experts on Honda's by any means right now, but I'm actively researching everyday and learning a lot. I don't cut corners, and I'm doing the build right. Thanks for any help in advance!

i would think you should be fine, however I agree with the high octane choice of fuels to be safe. If you havent changed cams or Intake manifolds your stock tune should do the trick. Good Luck.

You should be just fine on the stock injectors/tune on 93 octane.

Thanks guys! That's what I was thinking, but I just wanted to make sure. I'm curious to see how this piston choice works for me with the turbo too. Maybe the extra compression will help with spool some.

Id run it on stock everything, run conventiona motor oil and get the motor hot at idle, make sure no leaks and fans work and bleed coolant system and doesnt over heat. Shut it down dump the oil just in case an debris in there. change filter and refill with conventional motor oil. Take the car out for 5-10 miles on the highway varying engine load and rpm. This doesnt mean taking it to redline. just down shift and upshit 4-5 at 55-65mph and tip in and out of the throttle to break in the piston rings. After that your good to go.

Glad this was brought up, I planned on doing the same to mine when I get it built.
