Icon2 ef d series turbo help

so i wanna turbo my ef its obd1 non vtec ive searched all over and i cant really get any straight answers but its kind of hard trying to decide what to do? so i know i wanna go with a 14b or 16g turbo and run the stock boost which is like 7-9? psi i will be happy with just 5psi im not really trying to race like crazy just a lil here n there its more of just a daily driver and over time ill build a motor for it so heres my questions how do i get it to run 5psi or 6 even 8 if i cant change it should i used a fmu with stock injectors n fuel pump? or should i chip my ecu from www.xenocron.com and use like 320cc injectors because i personally think 450s are over kill n about tuning how much is that? and were's a good shop in northern california or central? also what needs to be done to my car to be able to take it to tune it ? any help thanks

Forget the FMU, Go with Blue top DSM 450cc injector's (Can be found for around $100), side mount intercooler from stock DSM and custom piping. Go with Chrome on a P28 ECU and TUNE, TUNE TUNE! big16g is a bit of overkill for what you want, if you aren't planning mods to increase redline, go with a 14b, internal wastgate and a manual boost controller.

It has been said a million times, don't set "psi goals" set power goals.

The connecting rod in the d-series motors is the "Achilles heel" they can't handle more than 220whp new.

depending on the life the motor has lived so far it would be best to get some stronger internals.

also a smaller turbo would be best as the sohc non-vtec has a low flow rate and a big turbo would never spool.

you can find DSM 390cc injectors for like $40 on craigslist, run those, and if you need your P06 ecu chipped on the cheap pm me.

hope my info helps.

Again, the connecting rods do NOT hold up well under boost. If you're just after a BOV sound, then go with a 14b, you control the boost through a MBC, but you're still going to need a tune and bigger injectors, most use DSM, but you have to use a resistor box on non-saturated injectors. As far as a tuning shop, google is your friend, there is an abundance of them
All through Cali. But for what you're going to spend for the entire set up, you can build the bottom end cheaply and replace AT LEAST the connecting rods, look at a Vitara set up to lower the compression ratio, also, I would get a new
Fuel pump. Walbro set up would work fine.

You can make 250whp at 8psi.

turbo size determines the power.

think of it like this...

Volume(big turbo)=Power. Velocity(pressure)= torque

a t25 @ 8psi will make 160whp

a gt35r @ 8psi will make 240whp
^
not exactly accurate just an example.

so what you said is completely ignorant, but i'll let you learn the hard way.

That's a good start. a bigger fuel pump shouldn't be necessary but i would suggest it anyway as a precaution.

You never know how old your pump is, or how clean it is internally, the stock pump pushes about 70 liters per hour.

When i went to boost my EG i pulled the tank and found it was full of rust, so i replaced it and went with a walbro 255lph.

my whole setup in my car has less than 2k invested and i just got dyno'd @ 241whp 212ft lbs tq

Definitely replace the fuel pump. Walbro will be your best bet, make sure to buy from a reputable dealer, there are many Chinese knockoffs. You are not going to get the flow you need for those injectors without it, I wouldn't run more than 5-7lbs of boost to be safe.

If you head to the Marketplace under the Forced Induction the sponsors there are all legit. Personally I got mine from Xenocron. Phearable.net, who also is a sponsor on here, also has them.
