2003 Civic Type R?
I just picked up the November issue of Sports Car International and in an article that compares the Focus SVT, Civic Si, GTI and MINI Cooper they said that the Civic Type R is coming stateside next year. I have heard a lot of rumours but this is the first I have read in print and I am wondering if it is finally true. Anyone?

if the civic type R comes stateside...will it be limited like the itr?
otherwise...maybe there was no point in making the si?

I'll give honda a thumbsup if they put the performance model back to the civic line where it belongs and leave the luxury/bloated integra line as a normal commuter car again.

The ITR and the GSR coexisted.

Like I said before, the CTR stands a better chance of coming over to North America than the ITR. Simply because the CTR motor is already on this side of ocean passing our emission laws. Also, the CTR model would NOT conflict with its lineup like an RSX-R model would.
Plus they wouldn't have to strip CTR to bring it over. An RSX-R would have to lose the 17" rims, HID's, Brembo brakes, recaro seats, etc. in order to keep the MSRP reasonable to North American standards. I mean who would would pay $30K+ for an RSX-R in JDM trim...not too many North American's would.

Here is the quote:
..."And with the second-highest base price of the group (tied with the GTI), the Civic doesn't really provide a lot of bang for the buck either. Then again, it would be a real contender if it just had an extra 40 horsepower, some realistic rubber, bigger brakes and an aero package. Wait. Sounds a lot like the Civic Type R, doesn't it? Looks like we'll need to have a rematch ONCE THAT CAR COMES STATESIDE NEXT YEAR." (caps mine)

it'd be nice if they brought over the 30th anniversary CTR, but judging from the huge sales of Si's (yes, that's a sarcastic reamark) I don't believe the CTRs will be sold here.

however, do you think the pricing would be between the RSX-base and RSX-s? If that were the case then who wouldn't buy it?? now if it was more than the RSX-s, would you pay more for a honda (vs. acura)? It'd be nice to se it come over as nothing really impresses me from the Honda camp (as i can't afford the nsx or the s2k yet).. but i'll wait till the announcement comes out in print from a real magazine before i put stock into this..

you're not making any sense.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't the new CTR use the same RSX-S engine. If so, then there's ur answer, Mario

Where can I find CTR motors on this side of the ocean passing our emission laws?

JDM EP3 comes with Recaro seats and 17" rims, HIDs are optional on the JDM DC5R...
But if you bring over the RSX-R, take away the engine, the brembo brakes, the HID's, etc. what do you have...an RSX Type S with a body kit and sportier suspension (recently Acura made this an optional on the Type S).
So you see, bringing over a watered down RSX-R wouldn't make any sense since we already have the Type S. The CTR on the other hand adds to the Civic HB lineup by adding more powerful engine, 6 speed tranny, no sunroof (stiffer body), factory body kit (lip, sideskirts, rear valence), rear spoiler, sportier suspension, etc.
The CTR may look like butt... From reviews ive read, the CTR is a beast that Honda never really knew what it could do. Theres even reports of it out performing the new ITR
