Default bad wiring please heeelp

Hi every one, I'm new to this site. hope I'm posting in right section. k here it comes i bought 92 prelude with h22a swap which i thought was good deal until it died within a week. dealer couldn't find out whats wrong with it. i just took it to inline pro and they had it running in no time but they said its bad wiring through out the car specially behind the dash.i was also told that the car was an automatic and was converted to 5spd which wasn't a good job as well thats why its all messy. if i get it fix from inline pro it could cost me over well over $1000 easy. can't afford that so now im stuck. can some one please tell me any easier way to fix it or replace it? oh and btw back up lights don't work and all the gages are malfunctioning.

Buy a new wiring harness for a 5spd model. Or have some patience and go thru each harness 1 by 1.

You should be able do that provided you get EXACTLY the right harness. You might also invest in a Helms manual so you can double check everything and sort out any loose ends.

Buying a new/used in tact harness and doing the job yourself will be FAR less than $1k. Not only that, but the bast way of learning most anything is hands on doing. Wiring isnt as complicated as people think. Just do some research.

Hey, I just did this! You should probably get that shop to do it. The backup light wires are in the console instead of going to the trans. If they used a mt motor harness the wires are run all the way down the tcu. They had to have taken the interlock control unit out to bolt the clutch pedal in. I made my own interlock circuit off of the clutch pedal switch and a relay out of an alarm. I replaced the cluster with an mt one it works fine. I havent gotten cruise control to work yet I just bought an mt cruise brain off of ebay.

I did that for a few cars. One was a Prelude motor into a 94 Civic 4 door, and the other I can remember off of the top of my head was a K20 (can't remember if it was the A2 or the Z1) into a 96 Civic hatch. Neither owner wanted to purchase the harnesses that would have done 90% of the work, so my friend and I looked over the Helms manuals for both cars, and pin-by-pin made our own "harness". It takes a good bit of time, but it absolutely can be done. Just don't do it when you're too tired or you'll confuse yourself real easily lol
