P2E ecu on 97 civic ex D16Y8
Hey guys i have a question i have a 97 civic ex coupe and i'm running a stock d16y8 with a p2e ecu. My question is would the p2e ecu make the car idle off and act poorly due to it being the wrong ecu. And i have a check engine light code 1509
So you're running the wrong ECU and you're wondering why the car is running like crap and throwing codes? You're running the ECU for the DX.
If it's a manual Y8 you'll be throwing IACV codes and have a fluctuating idle, if it's an automatic it will throw a mainshaft position sensor code eventually.
Yes it will Y8 has a 2-wire IACV, your stock P2E is set up for a 3-wire IACV.
To avoid this problem, for now you can cap the IACV that's on the back of ine intake manifold, and put the Y7 throttle body on it.... unless you've already rewired it, in which case you'll need a P2P ecu.

I'm having similar issues.
My car:
99 Civic Ex 5 speed
D16y7 block - Why? Idk..
Not sure about head (guessing y7 - how do I check?)
p2p ecu
y8 intake manifold from what I'm told - 2 wire IACV
I am having idle problems. Replaced the IACV with a used one and it didn't seem to help. I also picked up a p2e ecu but realized that it's not quite plug and play. Any help?
