spoon jdm tranny
whats up everyone, ive been a silent observer for a little while now, but the time has come to post my first question.
spoon offers a jdm tranny set-up that is susposedly a new piece from honda. they disassemble it and put it back together with the 4.785 final drive, it costs like $1750+/-. i just recently read that they are discontinuing it and once theyre gone theyre gone, so im considering picking one up.
i was wondering if anyone has one, or has had experience with it? it seems like a fair price if it is actually a new unit. also, will it have better/worse reliablity?

It's discontinued already.
The tranny from Spoon is a completely stock JDM ITR tranny. No work is done to it. The only benefit of buying it from Spoon is that it is cheaper than buying it new from Honda.

so why would they be "discontinuing" it. do they do anything with it, or do they just jack up the price to put their name on it?

yes, what Reid said.
but they are also discontinuing it because they have stiff competition.
the Rota tranny is soon to come, and comes with a glossy black 4.685 FD.

Plus I can buy the Rota tranny and 3 sets of Slipstreams for the same price as the Spoon tranny.

The JDM ITR tranny with the 4.785 FD has GSR 4th and 5th gears, making the rpm in 5th basically the same as with the USDM tranny.

You Spoon ****** can bitch all you want, but that extra .1 isn't going to make a difference on the road course.

i'm sure there are lots of racers that would take a 1/10 seconda gain by just running different wheels. i know i would.

you will be much happier with the performance for cost. ba-jesus
