Icon3 ANOTHER EM1 PROBLEM - rear brake

sup ht today i changed my brakes on my em1 all was good until i got to the rear passenger side. took the caliper off then applied the new pads. the caliper was pretty hard to put back on compared to the opposite side. well i put it back but the rotor wont spin. its super tight. wont even move. the opposite side spins with no problem. what kind of problem am i looking at? rotor & caliper are bent? i dont see any damage of it being crashed or anything. please let me know

Pull the caliper off again and make sure you rotated the piston and aligned the pad and piston correctly.

Sounds like you need to pull the pads off and verify that you purchased the correct ones and installed them correctly.

but the opposite side went on perfectly. when i applied the pads to the caliper it made it real tight too tight to install on the rotor.

You did turn the caliper piston back in right? Do the slide pins move freely?

yeah i used a cube looking tool to turn the piston so it can sit on the pads correctly but still was too tight the wheel wont spin at all. and what slide pins?

The slide pins have a rubber boot and insert into the caliper bracket. Did you ever remove them?

Did you read through the diagram above describing how to replace the pads? Did you follow those instructions exactly?

Did you buy the correct pads?

A seized caliper / slide pins is another possibility. Very common for these calipers, especially the rear.

Yes, very common for Honda rear disk brakes after they get old

More so because people try lubing the slide pins with neversieze when they service the brakes and then it melts and solidifies like cement. I've literally had to beat some calipers off with a sledge hammer because of this. But yes, to a lesser degree they will size up when they get old and haven't been serviced in years (especially if the boots are torn.
