I'm going to say doubtful since I have yet to have a problem with any aspects of VTEC. Any CELs?

the swap was done over a year ago and at one point it did run fine but i purchased the car with intent to pull the engine to put it in my ej1 and i just wanted to make sure everything was running correctly before i pulled it and there is no cel coming up so i am stumped about to try another vtec solenoid to see if thats it but im clueless right now

So if there is no CEL how do you suppose it's the solenoid? Just trying to follow the thinking in case I ever have the issue..

My car came with the CEL pulled out, so it didnt appear to be on... CEL should pop up when the keys are in accy position... If the light was removed for some reason, and there really is a light, it should point you in the right direction.

the light does work but i have read that if you have a jdm solenoid with a usdm ecu then you will have a cel but i checked all of that earlier and i have the usdm solenoid with the oil pressure switch and a usdm obd1 p72 from a 94-95 gsr so im stumped why it wont go over 5k rpm
