gsr block
I am about to get a gsr that has been hydrolocked pretty sure it will need a new block the guy I am getting it from said there was a peice of metal popped off at the top of the block near the head So need some advice and options not building a race car may turbo it one day when gas prices ever go down just a daily driver thank you
Sil80 - Sounds fun. On the subject of daily driver for now, maybe turbo later... Because of the different needs of the engine you typically build for one or the other but not both. N/A wants more compression, boost wants less (e.g. pistons). Lots of smaller decisions elsewhere too. Daily driver means reliable... and reliable means planning so that everything is suited for the mode you're in (e.g. boosted or not).
That said - you can get a sweet running daily driver with an LS/VTEC. Some hunt down a B20 block and VTEC equipped head so you get the torque of a 2 liter with a head that can breathe. Go that route with 11.5-12:1 compression and you might decide the turbo can wait.
If you switch later you can swap pistons, beef up the rods, change the cam profile, grab some ARP studs, etc.
? Good luck, Mark
