tach install tips for 97/01 prelude
so i just did a tach install in a 01 prelude. so hear is what i found to be the fastest and easiest for all..
digital tach has 3 wires.
red/ power source
green/ rpm signal
black/ ground
the normal tach has 4 wires.
red/ power
green/ rpm signal
black/ ground
white/ illumination
first find a mounting spot and mount the tach.
mount the ground to chassis or the fire wall,
run the green rpm signal through the fire wall grommet witch is on the pass side of the car behind the fuse block. hid as best as possible, continue to your distributor and find the plug that has two wires connecting it, the colors will be black with yellow stripe and a dark blue one. using dikes and some shrink wrap and tape tap into the blue wire with the green wire from the tach. hide and make sure that u have a water tight connection.
the red wire fooled me a few times on this upgrade, everything tn the fuse block has power even with the key off.. i ran my power source wire/red to the remote wire for the subs, car turns on tach turns on.
the white wire should be wired into the fuse block to the tail light fuse..
the reason why is so that when u turn ur headlights on the tach will light up.
and there ya go...
