Default Wrong Sized Axle. HELP!!!!!!!

Sooooooo.. I'm new here. I'm a DIYer doing and axle swap on gf's car.
It's a 92' accord
It was awful because of my newbie-ness and long story short...

I put in an axle that was too short (thanks autozone) and then drove the car. It made this horrible grinding then refused to go into gear. It slipped right in, but didn't seem right and i guess it wasn't. Now i'm trying to get it back out and its stuck (probably the ring has ground itself into my gf's transmission.)

Did i destroy her tranny?

I've read that for some cars it works to hammer it out from the other side. Is this what i should try? Any other ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

the hammer through method wont work. get a big flat head screwdriver and with a quick popping motion, try to wedge it out

I tried that. Its hanging halfway out so that the screwdriver doesn't work very well. Also, its really stuck in there... I'm gona try a piece of wood and prying tomorrow. Any help/experince is appreciated.

meaning it is popped half way out? then your issue then would be is getting circlip to compress on the end of the axle shaft to allow it to release. may need some persuasion then if you ask me. i have done plenty of axles on accords. and sometimes they like to be an annoyance, but other times pop in or out of the transmission real easy. just take your time and be careful with the boot.

Normally you have to keep trying different angles with a crowbar until you find the sweet spot that will pop the axle out. It should pop out, but perhaps you are so scared about this that you are expecting the worst. No offense, of course.
