brad penn is a great all around oil (green oil), one of the only companies thus far ive seen with a true break-in oil, but all of their other oils are top notch, good for on/off track use. if your going to track the car i would run 10w-30 or 10w-40, if not the regular 0w-30 is a good choice. AMSOIL also offers a race line of oils as well- the Dominator series, their 10w-30 is another good all around choice.

2001 ITR with 63k miles is not an answer to the question "what are you using the car for?"
If you're just street driving it, it doesn't really matter what oil you put in there. It's all the same. I'm using valvoline conventional in my 2001 ITR. If I start tracking it regularly, I might start using off the shelf synthetic. MAYBE. By off the shelf, I mean Valvoline, Mobil1, or Pennzoil or something.
I use off the shelf synthetic in my S2000 because I track it very often. Otherwise, that would be getting regular oil as well.
My 00 spec ITR swapped EM1 gets regular *** oil.
There's plenty of 200+k mile cars that have been driven spiritedly that use just regular oil. My EM1's stock B16A2 had 155K on the clock when removed. It had been daily abused, and tracked. It pulled 220PSI of compression and burned no oil. I used whatever dinosaur lube was on sale at walmart in that car. It still runs strong as hell in someone else's car today.
If you figure your car feels more responsive and will last longer due to your lighter wallet putting less of a strain on the engine, then buy all the designer botique oil you want, I guess.
You're wasting a lot of money in doing so...but whatever works for you.

^^^^ this man speaks the truth, brand of oil doesnt make much difference
just keep the oil levels up where they need to be, and keep the oil fresh and your good to go

If the car is a street car, just use a regular known brand of oil and filter.
Brad penn is good stuff though. A close friend runs it in his spec e30 race car and has never had an issue.
Ramey Built uses it in his drag car(s) and we've never had an issue. When his motor blew due to a dropped valve, that stuff went everywhere after it blew out of te catch can. Took me a LONG time to find a chemical that would break it down while I was cleaning the car afterwards.
Another personal friend runs it in his street car. 00 Si with a Ramey Built' B16 and a 35R. Car sees plenty of street abuse and everything is still solid.
I'd run it but my R uses regular non syn Mobil 5w30. I beat the snot out of it for the past 4 years. Only gripe about Brad Penn isss it's not easily available. I like to go get my oil at walmart or napa etc.
It's your call. It's neat oil and is green. Doesn't taste good though :/

usually any oil is fine for street use....
I love seeing people say "this oil is great. that oil sucks" without ever posting an oil analysis data sheet from some lab (Blackstone Labs, for example)....Iautomatically ignore them if the supporting data isn't posted
I've only ever used Castrol, Amsoil and Total......Analysises I've seen have led me away from Mobil 1 products (except their Racing 4T for motorcycles)...Valvoline (VR1), Shell (Rotella T), Redline, Lubro-Moly, Amsoil and Castrol stuff seem to handle great track abuse
just my 2 cents
