Hey just a question. I did a D16A1 swap on my 4-door with stock everything except the DOHC motor. The starter is indeed just spinning and not hitting the flywheel, just like the old threads say. Has anyone ever successfully found a starter that can bolt on and turn a D16A1 that's bolted to a SOHC tranny? I'm about to try and find out. I'm going to try the 88 Accord A20A3 starter, the 87 CRX Si starter (EW3 right?) and also measure the flywheel from the hole on this setup, then measure a stock setup and see if there's a difference. FYI - I used the flywheel clutch everything from the SOHC. Also used the stock SOHC mounts and axles without a problem I don't know why everyone complains so much, bolting the motor in isn't very hard. I'm just tired of roll starting the car lol.
Thanks in advance for any help.

can't be of help with regard to the starter, but i am curious what it is you did with the driver side mount. As i understand it's like the biggest pain in the *** when it comes to this swap. That's what i've heard anyway, i've certainly never attempted said swap.
I helped on a d16a1 swap years ago into an eg of all things and we used the stock trans. What we did for the starter is tap the one hole that normally threads into the block for a slightly larger bolt and drill out the hole on the starter to fix the mounting issue. We also had the same issue with the starter not engaging the flywheel and from what i remember it hits something on the block or trans causing the gear to not come out far enough. We ground down whatever was causing it and it worked fine after that.
how are you having problems with the starter i just did my dohc zc(1991 civic dx hatch w/si 5 speed)last week used my 91 si clutch and flywheel and bolted up perfect
not sure what your talking about the driver mount i took off the harmonic balancer and dropped it in just like a sohc this is a simple swap, mine will be running tuesday once my distributor jumper harness and cam sensor comes in
