Default Expo Build or GTFOYA

As the 98 has been sitting for over a year and I have now paid for expo, I figured it is time to actually get the rocket put back together.

First, some pics of the parts I have accumulated, the plan is to replace all wear items with new OEM, and then add some not so OEM...

Alot of the not so OEM are from BlueR.. Kick *** seller and hard to beat on his prices.

Default So here is where we are today

What started this mess:Burned valve in Number 3.

Made the mistake of taking my motor to a shop of retards and they REALLY F'd it up. Went down to Slow Boy Racing and gave them the remains.. They re-worked the head, cut the faces on a Serdi, milled the head and block, and assembled the bottom end.

I just finished the Head. Dish faced Supertech Valves, Valve Seals, Ti Retainers, Valve Springs. here are some pics:

Coming this week: Pics of Completed block, DIY Oil Pan Baffle, Long Block assembly

Having owned 2 of those intakes, and 2 of those headers... you will NOT be disappointed.

Glad to see this build coming.

Thanks for the support. I am excited to get her running again. I rolled the motor out on the stand today but it was raining most of the afternoon. Pics will be up in the morning of the block and adding the baffles to the oil pan.

Default Bottom End

Pulled the bottom end out today to get this thing rolling. Here is what was done:
Decked and line bored and honed to 25 over.
ACL race bearings installed, standard were fine with plastigauge.
OEM R Pistons, 25 over with rings.
block decked 10thou

Buddy club 2 ply head gasket, will bump compression by 2 tenths points-ish

head was surfaced, serdi cut on all valve seats, new multi angle cutter, something like 10 facets I believe, much smoother transition. port and cleanup of chambers and intake side. Supertech standard size valved, dish face, nitride stainless. Supertech dual springs and Ti retainers. Cams are Toda A, netted 15 hp on a stock motor, assume with tuning I will get the same.
Had TB cut to 70mm by max bore, tapered cut, essentially the Spoon TB but for 60$.

some pics:

rocker arms and train will be installed tomorrow...

pulled the Head out to finish it today. Starting digging through my parts box and realized I never placed the final order with Acura for all of the seals and o-rings for the head build. Oil control orifice o-rings, cam seals, seal washers, etc.
After cussing myself out, I called the local dealer who I have beaten down over the years to order everything. they love it when you give them part numbers BTW. again they beat Delray Acura prices and I will have everything in the morning.
I went ahead and put in the rocker assemblies and lost motions.

I have kept a huge spreadsheet with part numbers for various replacement parts I have ordered. I am loving that now as I dig through the parts and can identify them via the spreadsheet...

Some pics of today's work:
