Default tein spring cutting

NO FLAMERS PLEASE

Ok let me start by saying i had some eibach sportlines on a civic that lowered the rear to much. So this time i bought some tein s techs for my 03 dc5. Well the rear end doesnt look lowered at all so i am going to cut half a coil on the top or bottom.

The front is dropped 1.7 in and the rear 1.4 in.

My question is which is the best to cut from? And i dont want any flaming

None!

You shouldn't be cutting spring out all! You know what you are asking is quite a stupid question and you expect people to give you a good answer...

Honestly think about it... You obviously don't have an engineering background in suspension so instead of cutting springs why don't you sell them and getting something that is more to your liking...

You have your ride height backwards. Its 1.71 rear and 1.46 front. I used to have S-techs. I guess you don't care about handling so I won't say how retarded this is.

Just get coilovers.

Holy **** I don't have them backwards. It even says on this site. And if you had s techs instead of h techs then I guess you didn't care about your handling either my good friend.

Dude do whatever you want... its not our car so we don't really care!

But you have to understand that coming into a public forum that people will flame for cutting your springs when all you have to do is sell them and get something different! There are so many other companies that make springs that lower more to your liking... You even know what flaming was going to happen...

Its not our fault that you want to practice a very unsafe way of working on you suspension!

I know. Obviously I don't want to do it. Its not like I'm a dumbass wanting to cut half of a stock spring. I just know many other people don't think the teins are low enough in the back so I was hoping there was a safe way to do it. The front is perfect that's why I don't want to sell the whole set and then not be happy with the front. Also like I said, eibachs make the *** sag to much for my liking

if you dont have the monies to do it properly... your going to cut them anyway, just put the stock springs on and cut those, then sell your aftermarket ones.

there is no proper way to "cut" springs, its simply not supposed to done.

My good friend spade look at this. plus the h techs are not worse, they lower around 1in which is better in the dc5 then going to low. god damn dont get on here to be a bitch
http://www.tein.com/tech_info/a28.html

thanks for the idea dave. you sure they are 1.8 and 1.8? progressauto.com says they are 1.5/1.4.
b & g, sprint, and k sport offers springs that are an even drop, but are any of them decent quality? after all, i bought the teins just because of the quality, my second choice was the eibachs but they drop the front 1.5 and the rear 1.8 and i definitly dont want that but i know they are good quality. would you like to argue with me about those numbers mr spade?

Also while i had the rear struts off, I noticed the rear was still very stiff. Is that normal? Would the rear go lower with an aftermarket strut, like maybe a softer shock?

You don't know anything about suspension other than you want it to be "hella slammed". F*cking ricer. Go do some homework and then come back when you have some serious questions.

My bad I looked at the EP3 springs... but ya its 1.5 and 1.4 front and back...

Another point, I don't like the direction of which the thread is going in! I think we all ,including the OP, need to cool down a little. As of now if you are just going to flame or argue I will start giving out infractions! I don't want to have to go down this route so please don't give me a reason too...

Now OP, I believe what you need to do is sell all your parts and put back your OEM stuff. With the money made from the sale save up and get a coilover kit! This will be much safer for you and will give you the desired drop with the least amount of headaches. Cut springs isn't the answer to your problem it is a temporary fix to your visual problem but the beginning of major suspension problem in the future!

Please take my advice seriously because in the end you will never be happy if not and all these guys will be on you saying they told you so!

Do you even know what spring rates are? If you did you would see the flaw of H techs. Please do us a favor and get a VW then do all the hellaflush crap you want. Also you worry a about ride quality but want a big drop on stock shocks? And you think that an aftermarket shock will magically drop a bunch more?

Thread is lulz. I thought we stopped giving out infractions?

Dave, we're just trying to help by making OP feel like as much of an idiot as possible. It's the only way to learn.

Tough love!

We never stopped giving infraction... I just try not to give any out by talking to people and solve the problem! Most get it, some don't!

As for making him feel like an idiot, I think we did enough of that! So I want it to stop now!

Either you post something to help him or guide him in doing the right thing or don't post at all!

Take this as a warning or wtv you want to take it as I don't care... I believe, I have been nothing but a good mod to you guys and help you out to make this a great place where we are all friends. I try solve problem instead of giving out infraction but don't take my goodness for granted as I will bring you back to reality very quickly! I'm not scared to flex my muscles I just choose not too in most case.

Respect comes on a 2 way street so disrespecting me or any other member is disrespecting us all and I want stand for it... Zero tolerance from now on!

Seems like the OP is showing a whole lot of respect to the people trying to HELP him.

I didn't see Spade use any inflammatory or derogatory words. Just sayin'...

Back on topic though.. OP needs to sell his springs and buy Raceland coilovers. He should almost break even since he can get about $200 for the springs and the Racelands are only $230. The price & performance will suit his needs perfectly.

Cutting springs is like winning the special olympics, you may be happy, but you're still retarded...
