Default H23 engine swap

My 14 yr old son purchased a 92 Prelude s with no engine. He also prchased an h23 non vtec engine and trans to install into it. My question is what needs to be done to complete this engine swap besides an ecu? I would think that the h23 should go in with no problems being that it was an option on this car. Thank you all in advance.

It will go in with no problems, only thing is that you'll have to add a plug for the knock sensor unless you have a complete harness to go with the motor then its all plug and play.

Did the h23 come with the distributor? What motor was in the car before it was pulled? Which harness are you using? ecu?

h23 dist, had an f22 shoc. has the original ecu at the moment, I have been told that the f22 ecu will work. I do plan on him getting the correct ecu for it. Thanks for all of your guys' support, also has the original f22 harness in it.

Check the ground on the head. Does the check engine light come on when you turn on the ignition?

The check engine light does not come on. hmmm. Looks like ground 101 is where I need to start. Engine turns over, I have no signal form the Dist. as far as I can tell.

You should try to get the right ecu in there first. I know they all have different fuel maps and vary a bit. You are looking for a P14 (H23). Check the wiring on the distributor and make sure it actually works.

I have an extra P14 laying around the house.... no use for it. You can pick this up for me if you'd like.
