So, the transmission cooler hose busted on my '97 CRV. I need a new one asap, can I use other types of hoses than transmission hoses? Otherwise, are there other major auto stores that may carry transmission hoses? Also, is it imperative that I use Honda ATF. It is what I normally use, but $9 a bottle is pretty steep right now.

You can use 3/8 power steering hose available at most autoparts stores. Stay with the Genuine Honda ATF - it cost more but is needed for proper operation.

 

Thank you. You're a lifesaver. That's what I figured about the ATF... *sigh* bad week to quit my job huh? lol

 

Also, should I expect that most of the fluid leaked out and I need to buy about 7 quarts?

 

The transmission only holds about 3 quarts, the torque converter holds another 3, i'm not sure exactly how much you lost.
