Default help! 99 ls died

i have a 99 with 155k on it and just a bunch of bolt ons. long story short, was adjusting timing today since its never been perfect since i adjusted my cam gears. was driving it around the neighborhood and it died. when i tried starting it again it gave me a couple loud *** backfires and thats it. tried popping the clutch and it did the same thing and sounded horrible so i pushed it home. idk if i had the timing too advanced and caused a problem, but i need to get this figured out considering this is the car i use to get to school and work every day. any help is appreciated, thanks.

Well you might have jumped the timing, you have to put stock cams to put 0-0 and then set the timing.

let me rephrase, i wasnt messing with the cam timing, ive had them adjusted for qutie some time, intake half a degree advanced, exhaust was half a degree retarded. i was playing with the distributor timing when this happened. and it does have stock cams.

Well then backfires only occurs when either timing jumped or too much ignition. Take out the cover Check the timing I would say.
